DR Big Band celebrating Quincy Jones

It’s finally happening! Denmark’s own phenomenal DR Big Band is throwing a spectacular big band celebration at Godset, paying tribute to none other than the legendary Quincy Jones. Get ready to be transported back to the jazz scene of 1950s and ’60s New York, where a young Quincy rose to fame as a visionary bandleader and arranger. Together with his longtime friend and soul icon Ray Charles, he pioneered a bold fusion of soul, blues, and big band jazz. Now, DR Big Band joins forces with Tony Momrelle, the award-winning British soul star whom The Guardian has hailed as “the Stevie Wonder of the 21st century,” to deliver powerhouse big band renditions of Quincy Jones’ iconic hits - "Birth of a Band," "Boogie Bossa Nova," "In the Heat of the Night," "It Had to Be You" - and many more!

The evening’s musical direction is in the expert hands of Peter Jensen, who also arranged many of the evening’s charts especially for this concert.

Before the show, join us for a shared dinner set to funky, feel-good tunes spun by local vinyl connoisseur Christian Winther of Jungle Records - aka Dr. DJungle. And after the concert, he’ll be back on the decks to keep the groove alive. It’s going to be a truly hot night at Godset!
