Makar Novikov Quintet

Russian-born bassist Makar Novikov has been on a long journey. Throughout his musical life, he has toured the globe alongside some of the greatest legends in jazz, including Jimmy Cobb, Clark Terry, Jimmy Heath, and James Spaulding. Now, with the release of his debut album as a bandleader, Long Journey (2025), Novikov and his trusted musical companions have arrived at a sound of truly international stature - yet one in which we all feel right at home. Having turned his back on his homeland, Novikov has finally settled in Berlin, where he has formed his international dream quintet. Together, they create beautiful, melodic, and irresistibly groovy jazz that captures both the beauty and fragility of the world. This is the kind of music that clearly points toward the next great jazz sound.
