Music has always been able to unite people across all borders of the world. Sunbörn, formerly known as KutiMangoes, is a splendid example of this. Their music, inspired by West African music cultures and jazz-rock, springs from the feeling that we are all humans born under the same sun.

Music has always been able to unite people across all borders of the world. Sunbörn, formerly known as KutiMangoes, is a splendid example of this. Their music, inspired by West African music cultures and jazz-rock, springs from the feeling that we are all humans born under the same sun. Their good intentions and musical cohesion have resonated worldwide. For they manage, like very few others with their life-affirming music effortlessly straddling the border between jazz, fusion, and global music, to build bridges between cultures. It's acoustic yet electrified jazz with wild rhythms and perhaps Denmark's best horn section upfront. The band has released four albums, won four DMA awards - most recently as the best live band. They play blissfully life-giving world music for body and soul. For it's sunny and groovy music that makes the world dance together in joy of being in the present moment. The reviewer from Politiken put it succinctly about the children of the sun: World-class!

About the orchestra:
When they founded The KutiMangoes in 2012, Gustav Rasmussen and Michael Blicher were inspired by West African music, which they mixed with their own jazz background on the jazz and rock scene. They found a sound that has since been unmistakable. For a decade, they toured extensively through Europe, Asia, and Africa and received numerous DMA awards, including the Roots Live Band of the Year '22. The year of release 2023 brought tours in Denmark and Italy and shows in Germany, and now the rest of the world awaits. Under the new name Sunbörn, they will continue to explore new musical horizons that bring people together and push the boundaries of global music.

The band has released a total of four award-winning and critically acclaimed albums. The band's latest self-titled album marks the beginning of an exciting new musical journey, representing the band's focus on and commitment to creating music that unites and inspires people. Released in April 2023, the album represents Sunbörn's vision of creating unique soundscapes that transcend the boundaries of jazz and world music. The music features acoustic, hand-played elements that highlight the band members' virtuosity, jazzy arrangements, and wildness, but equally production and electronic elements drawing on a more contemporary sound. The album includes new collaborations and guest appearances with artists such as Ida Nielsen (DK), BIGYUKI (JP), Caio Marcio (BR), Clap! Clap! (I), Kaidi Thatham (UK), Moderator (G), and Opolopo (S).
