Danish band MOJO HANDS has just released their new album “GO! GO! GO!”, which dropped on all major streaming platforms on Friday, June 13.
The new album builds on the direction the band took with their previous release, “High Blood Pressure”, now six years old, where they lovingly reinterpreted older - and in many cases ‘forgotten’ - American rhythm & blues songs, offering their own 2019 take on them.
Recorded over the course of a few months earlier this year at Lundgaard Studio in Vejen, the new album features songs originally written in the 1950s and ’60s by artists like Vanetta Dillard, Joe Bihari, Irma Thomas, and Doris Tauber. There’s also a cover of Billy Swan’s classic “I Can Help.” The album opens with “Let the Good Times Roll,” not the famous Louis Jordan version, but rather a track recorded by Johnny & Edgar Winter on their “Together” album from 1976.
The album also includes interpretations of a few more recent songs, along with a blues ballad written by Mojo Hands’ former guitarist, Jan Kølle.
MOJO HANDS describe the album as a “feel-good party album” - a collection of songs with simple, positive messages that are easy to incorporate into their live setlists, where rhythm & blues, soul, and rock’n’roll have always been the core. This energetic blend has earned the band a solid following both at home and abroad.
MOJO HANDS have been active for a couple of decades with various lineups, but the current formation has remained largely unchanged since 2013 and is as follows:
Lineup:
Zenia Levring Madsen - Vocals
Bo Møller - Guitar & Vocals
Rasmus Grønborg - Keyboards
Lars Thomsen - Bass
Erik Lodberg - Drums & Percussion
H.C. Erbs - Trumpet
Christoffer K. Find - Saxophones
