Some musicians are simply made for each other. Such is the case with Sinne Eeg—Denmark’s undisputed jazz queen—and the brilliant pianist Jacob Christoffersen. Together, they have toured the world for over 20 years, maintaining spark, curiosity, and a deeply felt musical love.

In 2025, they finally released their first duo album, Shikiori. Ivan Rod from Gaffa called it Sinne Eeg’s most fully realized work to date—and that says quite a lot. The music is inspired by Japan’s beauty, both grand and simple, sensitive and intimate—marked by superior musicianship and a perfect balance between improvisation and melody.

When Eeg and Christoffersen take the stage together, there is an almost telepathic understanding between them; it is evident that they know each other down to the smallest detail. This evening, they will present compositions from Shikiori, beautifully interwoven with some of the greatest classics from Sinne Eeg’s impressive catalog. It promises to be a night of musical magic between two artistic soulmates.

The new pieces from Shikiori act as a form of resistance—a organic statement in a digital age. The songs are a warm embrace of imperfection, spontaneity, and shared presence. “If it comes from AI, and not from humans, it doesn’t move us,” says Sinne Eeg. “We wanted to create something unmistakably alive. That requires trust, time, and presence—something Jacob and I have built over 20 years of collaboration.” Jacob Christoffersen shares this sentiment: “One of the great joys of playing with Sinne is that the music is always alive. She makes space for it. It’s unpredictable, and that’s what makes it real. After all these years, we’ve created something like musical telepathy—I always know where she’s going.”
