Poul Krebs turns 70 – and plays 70 concerts across Denmark
It started as a wild idea – but in 2026 it becomes reality. When Poul Krebs turns 70, he won’t just mark the occasion with a new album and a lifelong back catalogue. He will also embark on one of the most ambitious tours of his career: 70 concerts across all of Denmark.
“2026 will be the year where we cover the entire big little country. From the largest concert halls to the smallest community centers out there – and even back to the big festivals, which I was certain I had played for the last time. Luckily, I was wrong about that,” he says.
The tour will be a journey through all the many kinds of community that have followed Poul Krebs through the years. Spring will be all about the band and full energy on stage, summer brings a return to the festivals and the great sing-alongs, autumn will be more intimate, where Poul together with his anchor man Troels Skjærbæk will travel to the smallest corners of the country – and the year will be rounded off with special anniversary concerts, where friends and musical guests gather to celebrate both his birthday and his career.
Music as a meeting point
Community is not only something that happens on stage. It is also the driving force behind Krebs’ new album Fuldtidsforhåbninger, released in 2025. The album brings together a wide range of guests from several generations, including Hanne Boel, Lucky Lo, Tina Dickow, Helgï Jónsson, Jonas Dissing, Simone Tang, Palle Hjorth, Annika Aakjær, Martin Sommer, Jacob Dinesen, and Kajsa Vala.
Behind the scenes – and on stage – stands the strong team of musicians who helped shape the album: Oliver Mønster, Troels Skjærbæk, Peter Dombernowsky, and Knud Møller. And when the tour kicks off, the lineup will be Peter Dombernowsky and Casper Simonsen on drums and percussion, Troels Skjærbæk on bass, Palle Hjorth on keyboards, and Lars Skjærbæk and Andreas Käehne on guitars. Together, they form what Poul himself calls the strongest imaginable setup – “the most characterful musicians, all of whom have left deep marks in my songs.”
The audience deserves the best
“I owe it to my large audience to give them the best, and I owe all those involved in my new album to play those songs as well as I possibly can! Autumn will be a journey into the smallest places on the map – right there where music creates the strongest sense of community. And I honestly believe I can say that I look forward to it all equally.”
Turning 70 and being described as better than ever is one thing. Doing so by playing 70 concerts is another. And doing it while affirming himself as one of the Danish scene’s most unifying, relevant, and persistent voices – that is something truly special.
“It really is a little sensation,” says Poul Krebs. “And a huge privilege, that I still get to do what I dreamt of as a boy.”
