Gårdsangerne fra Thy

With instruments such as a washtub bass, saw, washboard, coffee pots, folding ruler, violin, guitar, banjo and accordion, Gårdsangerne fra Thy create a truly unique sound that evokes memories and brings smiles to audiences both young and old. Their repertoire consists of beloved Danish songs from the traditional travelling musicians’ repertoire, as well as songs we remember from “back in the day”, such as Åh, Marie, Her i vores hus er glæde, Brænd mine breve, Så længe jeg lever and Alle sømænd er glade for piger.

Gårdsangerne fra Thy consists of 10 lively musicians aged between 67 and 87, who have kept the old Danish tradition of travelling musicians alive since 1997 – through both music and storytelling.

The concert will be filled with “good times and happy days” – and, not least, plenty of opportunities for the audience to join in the singing.

The group concluded their 2026 spring tour with sold-out concerts at venues including Musikhuset in Esbjerg, Stubhuset in Støvring, Skråen in Aalborg, Fermaten in Herning and Sønderborghus.

The group has previously performed at the Skagen Festival, Folkets Hus in Struer, events attended by up to 500 pensioners, nursing homes, churches and events organised by Ældre Sagen.

They have released five CDs and one DVD, and have also had a documentary film produced about the group, which has been broadcast on all of TV 2’s local stations across Denmark.
