ABANDONED PLACES & THE SOUND OF BELONGING
The only way to break through the noise is by being quiet - and the time you save by rushing is nothing compared to the time you gain by… giving yourself time. Then it grows and spreads like a tree and like ripples in water - and the fullness of time opens up. You find your place instead of searching for it everywhere else - and perhaps that is why it is called belonging. For presence is sound - and music - and dialects are Danish as it is sung. So come home to Vendsyssel and Falster with Mikael K and Knud Romer in song and poetry, to where we come from - and feel at home for a quiet hour.
When author and cultural figure Knud Romer meets songwriter and troubadour Mikael K, a special space emerges - a poetic refuge where noise and busyness give way to silence, reflection, and presence. In their concert narrative, the audience is invited to come home with them - to Falster and Vendsyssel - through stories and songs from places where language sings and belonging resonates.
With his award-winning novels, Knud Romer has written himself into Danish literature with existential depth and linguistic musicality. He has collaborated with names such as Peter Sommer, Andreas Odbjerg, and the Danish String Quartet, and in 2024 he was awarded the Knight’s Cross for his contribution to Danish art and culture.
For more than two decades, Mikael K has toured with his songs - both solo and with the band Klondyke - writing about the lives we rarely sing about: laundromats, IKEA arguments, and worn-out marriages. With seven critically acclaimed albums and awards such as the P4 Prize, DMA Folk, and the Carl Scharnberg Prize, he has established himself as one of Denmark’s most distinctive songwriters.
