For years, Torben Chris has been a guarantee of a very angry, hard-hitting, and logical voice in Danish comedy. Now he is ready with his fourth one-man show, titled LatterLIG.

LatterLIG is not a show for the faint-hearted. It’s a show that takes the piss out of today’s most self-important trends, politically correct absurdities, and all the things the rest of us—who are not part of the constantly offended keyboard warriors on social media—think, but don’t dare to say out loud.

According to Torben Chris, the past 8–10 years have been tough for a man with his sense of humor. People have taken comedy far too seriously, and there has been a tendency for political correctness to strangle humor. At times, Torben has had to fight long battles and endure online shitstorms to stand by his right to make fun of the spirit of the times, but as he himself puts it:
“If a trend, a law, or a politician is ridiculous, then I should be allowed to call it ridiculous—especially when it’s done in the form of a joke. For years, we literally couldn’t make a joke that women perhaps on average buy a few more candleholders than men, without being accused of being a sexist dickhead with a stereotypical view of women.”

Fortunately, the tide now seems to be turning, and we are on our way back to a stage where it’s okay to joke about more things again. That’s why the show also has the subtitle ‘humor will rise again.’ And if the time isn’t quite ripe yet, Torben Chris is, as always—blatantly unconcerned.
