n her new stand-up show Slangetæmmer (The Snake Tamer), Anne Bakland explores sex, sexuality, gender, kinks, shame, and all the strange rules we humans have invented about what is considered normal and what definitely isn’t.

Why are we so quick to put each other into boxes? Why can something that feels completely natural to one person seem like a boundary-crossing act to another? And when did we become so afraid of being curious?

With her dry Northern Jutland delivery, quirky take on human behaviour, and experiences from a colourful life, Anne dives into our relationship with desire, identity, and the things we might rather not bring up over dinner. Not to define what is normal, but perhaps to explore why it matters so much to us in the first place.

The title Slangetæmmer plays with one of our oldest symbols of temptation and sin: the snake. Because perhaps the snake has been unfairly misunderstood? Maybe it isn’t the enemy at all, but a symbol of curiosity, sensuality, and appetite, a part of ourselves we spend far too much energy trying to keep on a short leash.

Slangetæmmer is stand-up about people, desire, and all the things we do to fit in, from a comedian who has become increasingly interested in examining what is considered “normal” rather than trying to be it herself.

It’s personal, cheeky, and hopefully surprising.

Because maybe it’s not about taming the snake.

Maybe it’s about learning to love it.
