The Songs That Moved Europe
Since her victory at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013, Emmelie has performed on stages across Europe, building an international career that has taken her from concert halls and symphony orchestras to festivals, television shows and major live events. With From Dansevise to Only Teardrops, she turns her attention to the songs and musical heritage that have helped shape her own artistic journey.
Drawing on Eurovision’s rich musical legacy – particularly its golden age in the 1960s and 1970s – Emmelie reinterprets a selection of songs she grew up with, drew inspiration from and has since carried with her into her own music. These are songs that have stood the test of time, crossed national borders and touched generations of listeners across Europe.
The concert features fresh interpretations of classics such as Dansevise, To lys på et bord, Poupée de cire, poupée de son, Volare and Eres tú (Rør ved mig), alongside selected favourites from later decades, including Främling, Danse i måneskin and Fra Mols til Skagen. These are woven together with Emmelie’s own songs, including the Eurovision-winning Only Teardrops and newer material from her own musical world, which draws on the same European song tradition.
Through personal stories and intimate arrangements, Emmelie takes audiences on a journey through Europe’s musical history, bringing together French, Italian, Spanish, Swedish, English and Danish songs in a shared musical universe. Along the way, she shares the stories behind the songs and reflects on how they have helped shape her own music and artistic identity.
This is not a traditional Eurovision-style show, but an atmospheric and intimate concert experience centred on great melodies, compelling stories and a deep love of Europe’s rich song tradition.
On stage, Emmelie de Forest is joined by two musicians in an intimate trio setting, featuring piano, guitar, mandolin, dobro, autoharp and rich vocal harmonies.
From Dansevise to Only Teardrops is a concert about the songs, the memories and the music that continue to bring people together and move them across generations and national borders.
