When Dorthe Gerlach embarks on her tour in April and May 2027, she will be joined by some of Denmark’s finest musicians, performing a collection of brand-new songs in Danish. At venues across the country, the new material will be accompanied by songs from her solo album Natlys and the EP Krigerhjerte.
“You don’t really know your new songs until you take them out into the real world… and right now, it feels like having a bunch of fluffy baby birds tucked away in my desk drawer. But when spring comes, I’ll give them a gentle push over the edge of the stage and out to the people I trust most: my audience,” says Dorthe Gerlach.
For more than two decades, Dorthe Gerlach’s distinctive voice has moved audiences across Denmark, both in their own living rooms and at live performances. She is known for generously sharing both sorrows and joys at her concerts, taking audiences on an emotional journey where laughter and tears go hand in hand. After several intense years with the country-pop duo Hush and a period focused on English-language material, Dorthe Gerlach is once again turning her attention to her mother tongue.
Gerlach is a storyteller. Her eye is sharp and her tone affectionate as she unfolds her Danish songs, with stories ranging from the Vejle Fjord Bridge to the plastic swan boats on Peblinge Lake. From Inger’s belongings in an abandoned apartment in Randers to the chalk-white wooden clogs in a hospital and the flattened hedgehog on the way to school in Vendsyssel. And when the tour kicks off next spring, she’ll be bringing a collection of new songs and new stories along for the ride.
“I’ll be bringing a band of the best musicians I know, and I’m incredibly excited about these evenings. We’ll just have to see whether the baby birds can fly. I believe they can!”
