HESS IS MORE bring their unique, all-encompassing musical experience APOLLONIAN CIRCLES to KOLD Festival. Together with a team of specially selected musicians, Mikkel Hess is ready to set the table for a musical feast.

Mikkel Hess is an acclaimed Danish composer and drummer, known for his innovative blend of jazz, krautrock, and electronica, and his ensemble has gained international recognition and toured around the world. Hess is the central force in the Apollonian Circles, but once the doors open, the performance becomes a collective, equal collaboration, shared and created together with an audience that is invited fully into the experience.

Apollonian Circles is a cross-disciplinary concert performance where music, scenography, costumes, and lighting design are guided by an underlying dramaturgy. From the moment the audience arrives, they are transported into a mysterious, dreamlike parallel universe, independent of time and place – where anything can happen.

The table is placed at the center. It is decorated with ever-changing otherworldly artifacts and ornaments. The musicians approach the table together with the audience and gradually begin to use it as an actual stage, from which they perform out into the space. In a magical interplay between art forms and expressions, Apollonian Circles softens the boundary between artwork and audience, creating an experience that defies comparison with traditional concert formats.
