AySay combines Anatolian folk traditions and Nordic electronica through Luna Ersahin’s heritage. Singing in Turkish, Kurdish, and Danish, they create a psychedelic space where boundaries dissolve, leaving only the raw human experience—a place between hope and despair. Their music celebrates diversity and cultural connection, positioning them as a significant force in contemporary world music.
With Luna’s captivating and powerful vocals at the forefront and the virtuosic musicians Aske Døssing Bendixen and Carl West Hosbond by her side, AySay crafts a musical universe that carries the listener from the Nordic landscapes to the heart of Anatolia. By blending traditional instruments like the saz with modern pop and electronic elements, AySay creates an innovative soundscape that transcends genres and unites worlds.
Musical Recognition
AySay’s journey has been marked by widespread acclaim—they have received four Danish Music Awards Roots, including:
• Album of the Year for Su Akar (2022) and KÖY (2024)
• Artist of the Year (2022)
• Composer of the Year, awarded to Luna Ersahin (2022)
They also received the Carl Prize for Composer of the Year in the Roots category, cementing AySay’s position as one of Denmark’s most original and innovative bands.
Captivating Releases
Their second album, KÖY, released in October 2023, is a mesmerizing tribute to cultural heritage. Building on the success of their debut album Su Akar (2021), KÖY showcases AySay’s artistic evolution. With its rich soundscapes and alluring melodic themes, the album redefines world music for a global audience, drawing inspiration from both new and legendary artists such as Altın Gün, Derya Yıldırım, Selda Bağcan, and Aynur Doğan.
A Global Presence
AySay’s music reaches far beyond Denmark’s borders. Their powerful live performances and genre-defying sound have enthralled audiences at renowned festivals such as Roskilde Festival (Denmark), Montreal Jazz Festival (Canada), Les Escales (France), Eurosonic (Netherlands), and Reeperbahn Festival (Germany). Their tours have taken them across Canada, France, Germany, Scandinavia, and Greenland, where they have built a dedicated international following.
With their dynamic concerts and distinctive cultural expression, AySay continue to enchant audiences and broaden the horizons of what popular music can be.
